We have been welcoming visitors to Santa Cruz de Tenerife for over 55 years. The Hotel Taburiente was founded with a clear vision: to offer a warm welcome in an establishment that has grown alongside the city, whilst always maintaining the friendly, family-oriented atmosphere that defines us.

Our history
The early days
Founded in 1966 as a modest two-star guesthouse, the Hotel Taburiente began with 45 rooms. In 1976, the building expanded its capacity to 90 rooms and was officially classified as a hotel.
The great transformation
In 1989, the hotel expanded its facilities once again, bringing the total number of rooms to 116, and embarked on a major refurbishment that encompassed both the décor and the services. During this phase, it was awarded its fourth star, consolidating its position in the city. In 2007, its latest major expansion was completed, bringing the total to 165 rooms, and in 2020 the guest rooms and reception were refurbished with a more contemporary and comfortable design.
Connection with La Palma
The hotel maintains a special connection with the island of La Palma, reflected in its name and in various decorative touches in its communal areas. This bond stems from its founder’s desire to pay tribute to his La Palmeran roots, keeping alive a connection that creates a unique atmosphere and a distinct identity.
Germán Ortega’s dream
The hotel’s history is the legacy of Germán Ortega, who in the 1950s emigrated from the municipality of Mazo to Venezuela before returning to Tenerife to fulfil his dream. With vision and dedication, he laid the foundations of this project in the centre of Santa Cruz, creating a benchmark for Canarian hospitality which today, decades later, continues to welcome every guest with the same warmth and enthusiasm as in its early days.
